Writing jobs online abound.  The challenge is being able to identify the ones that are actually good and that you want to pursue from the potential scams.

For anyone with a bit of experience in writing and a background in business (even service businesses like supermarkets, beauty salons, or delivering pizza), potential markets are waiting for your insights.

Many writers overlook these important the lucrative potential markets: custom publishers and trade publications.

The best part of working with these publishers is that often you don't need to query.  Instead you only need to submit a letter of reference.  Here is a sample LOI:

Dear Mr. Smith:

I'm a big fan of Cow Feeder magazine.  The recent coverage on global rising corn prices was very well done, and I'm forward to future installments.

I have more than fifteen years of experience owning and operating my own farm.  I have also written freelance articles for over 20 trade and custom publishers focused on the agricultural areas. I hold a degree in Agricultural finance from Kansas State.

My experience as a regular contributor to the Kansas Star has taught me the important to prompt turnarounds and quality drafts.  I'm comfortable interviewing, researching quantitative statistics, and summarizing legislative documents in easy to understand format for a ranching and farming readership.

Do you work with freelancers?  If so, may I send you some clips?  I'm happy to pitch and work on in-house articles.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Rae Writer.
